When talking about Media language-

-Meaning = How the Media communicate meanings through their, forms, codes, conventions, and techniques.

-Theory= Brathes, Neale, Levi-Strauss and Todorov, and Baidrillard

-Camera Shots= Extreme long shot/wide shot, establishing Shot, tracking shots, long shot, medium shot, close up, extreme close up, birds eye shot , worms eye shot, and two shot.

-Denotation= description of what it is

-Connotation= hat we associate with it.

-Sound:

- Diegetic= sound in the world

-Non-diegetic= overlayed sound

-Mise-en-scene= "that which is in the scene" (what we can see)

-Lighting

-Editing


When talking about the Media representation:

-Meaning= How media portray events, issues, individuals, and social groups.

-Theory= Zan Zoonen, Hooks and Butler, Hall, Gauntlet, and Gilroy

-Social class

-Nationality

-Sexuality

-Race

-Gender

-Age


When talking about the Media Industries:

-Meaning= How the Media industries process production, distribution and circulation affect Media forms and platforms.

-Theory= Curran and Seaton, Livingstone and Lund, and Hesmondhaigh

-Conglomerates

-Diversification

-Vertical Integration

-Independent

-Cross-Media ownership

-Synergy


When talking about Media Audiences:

-Meaning= How media forms target, reach, and address audiences, how audiences interpret and respond to them and how members of audiences become producers themselves.

-Theory= Bandura and Gerbner, Hall, and Jenkins and Shirky

-Active vs Passive

-Consumers

-Uses and Gratifications
