Our most recent task in class was to create a print advertisement that follows UK advertising laws.
I decided to advertise jewellery, so i took a photo shoot of my ring and uploaded it onto Photoshop. I knew I wanted to do a mock Pandora advert, so I looked up there print adverts and found that they followed a certain theme/house style. The product is always featured as the focal point, usually on a blank white or purple material background. The brand is then placed at the centre, bottom of the add in bold black. This captures the eyes of the audience, due to the brightness of the add and the obvious branding.
After some playing around to find out what tools did what, I removed the background around the ring. Once it was blank white, I drew a shadow underneath the ring to define the image more. Next, was the brand logo (Flora & co). Using the text tool and a silhouette of a Lilly I found online. Lastly, I added the small print, which included the year the product was released, as well as the brands legal ownership of that particular product.
This was a great challenge, as it forced me to learn how to use photoshop and allowed me to show my ability in creative design. If I had more time, I would have tried to photoshop in the purple material that is commonly used in other adds, just to make it look more interesting.
